The Woowoo Guide To Having A Better Poo💩

The Woowoo Guide To Having A Better Poo💩

At Woowoo we love nothing more than piling into a conversation around something that other people shy away from - we love an awkward conversation or breaking down a stigma, especially when it relates to women's health! Today it's poo/poop - all the women in my family suffer from constipation, I've passed it on to my daughter (along with the family bottle of syrup of figs) I wanted to learn more about pooing to help her and my friends that are on GLP-1 medications, where it can go either way, they may lead to constipation or diarrhea - TBF neither great options.

What Is a Normal Poo?

If poo's were on a dating app - Smooth, soft, easy to pass is the emotionally available one you marry.

A 'Normal' poo usually means:

  • Easy to pass

  • No straining

  • No lingering discomfort

  • Happens anywhere from 3x per day (Really??) to every other day (more like it)

Why Constipation Happens...

Here are the biggest poo disruptors - there's a pun there I'm sure.

1️⃣ Dehydration

Less water + slower digestion = harder, smaller stools.

Smiley Poo Glow-Up Fix:
Aim for pale yellow urine. Keep water nearby. Add electrolytes if needed.

Hydration is your number one constipation ally.

2️⃣ Not Enough Fibre

The latest research says that you need 30g of fibre per day

Fiber adds bulk and softness to stool = making it easier to pass.

The Fiber Sweet Spot

👉 Soluble fiber absorbs water and softens stool
Found in: oats, legumes, beans, psyllium

👉 Insoluble fiber adds bulk and helps food move through
Found in: vegetables, berries, nuts, whole grains

Aim for colourful, minimally processed plants, as many as you can, daily.

3️⃣ Low Movement

Digestion loves circulation.

Even a 20-minute walk can stimulate bowel motility and reduce constipation.

Bonus: it supports overall metabolic health too.

4️⃣ Stress

Like GLP-1's, stress can make you go either way, acute stress can cause you to sh*t yourself or chronic stress can make you 'analy retentive' literally.

Try:

  • Yoga - de-stressing and movement

  • Walking in fresh air - takes stress levels down and is great for whole body health

  • A short guided meditation - not for me but other people seem to like it

Poo FAQs

❓ Do GLP-1 medications cause constipation?

They can. GLP-1s slow gastric emptying, which may reduce how frequently you have bowel movements.

❓ How can I improve bowel movements while on GLP-1?

Focus on hydration, fiber intake (both soluble and insoluble), daily movement, and stress management.

❓ What type of stool is healthiest?

Types 3–4 on the Bristol Stool Chart are typically considered ideal: smooth, soft, and easy to pass.

❓ Why does digestion affect freshness?

Changes in digestion can influence body odour and bathroom frequency. Supporting external intimate hygiene with pH-balanced products can help you feel clean and confident while your body adjusts.

Anal Sex and Poo: Its Anatomy, not Shame

If you’re dealing with constipation or occasional diarrhoea, it’s completely normal to feel more anxious about anal play or sex.

Let’s ground this in anatomy, not shame.

The rectum is where stool is stored before a bowel movement. So if you’re constipated, you may feel bloated or pressure to 'go.' If you’re experiencing diarrhoea or looser stools, your body may feel explosive, or unpredictable.

Neither situation means anal sex is “bad” or off-limits. It just means timing and comfort matter.

If You’re Constipated:

  • Wait until after a comfortable bowel movement.

  • Prioritise hydration and fibre to support easier passing.

  • Go slowly - tension makes everything feel tighter.

If You’re Experiencing Diarrhoea:

  • It’s usually best to wait until things settle.

  • The area may feel more sensitive than usual

And here’s the important part:

Bodies are digestive systems.
Digestion involves waste.
Anyone engaging in anal play as an adult understands that. No shame.

Afterwards, gentle external cleansing can help you feel comfortable and refreshed. A pH-balanced intimate wash designed for sensitive intimate skin supports your natural microbiome without over-stripping. For extra reassurance, microbiome-friendly wipes are ideal for a quick freshen-up.
